6Trim phone, internet and TV packages

Phone, internet and television packages often grow over time as providers add features, raise prices after promotions end or bundle in services you never asked for. If you've had the same plan for years, there's a good chance it no longer matches how you use it.

Look at what you actually use. If you mostly make calls and send texts, a basic phone plan or a prepaid option may be enough. If you watch only a few channels, a smaller television package or a single streaming service might cover your favorites for less. Some providers also offer reduced-cost internet plans for households with limited incomes.

Call each provider and ask what plans are available and whether they offer any discounts for seniors. If technology isn't your favorite thing, a family member can help you compare options and set up a new plan. Before switching, make sure any new service works well in your home and that you understand any contract terms or equipment fees.
