4Update your mileage, commute and drivers
Life changes quickly, and your insurance policy may not keep up. A new job, a remote work arrangement, a move, a teen who just got a license, or a family member who moved out can all affect your coverage and your price. Before renewal, take stock of what has changed over the past term.
Estimate how many miles each vehicle is driven now and how it is used, whether for commuting, pleasure or business. Make sure every regular driver in the household is listed as your insurer requires, and ask how to handle anyone who has moved away. If you no longer drive one car often, ask whether a different coverage arrangement could apply.
Accuracy matters more than a lower quote. Leaving off a driver or underreporting mileage might lower your bill at first but could cause serious trouble with a claim. Report changes honestly, and ask your insurer to explain how each update affects your premium.
